Lunar Phases (2006) for flute, viola and harp
Lunar Phases (2006) for flute, viola and harp
The lunar phases change cyclically as the Moon orbits the Earth. However, the phases are never the same each time according to the season and weather. In Japanese, we have several traditional Japanese names for the each lunar phase, using it in the traditional poem lyrically. I got the inspiration from these mysterious and poetic images, which is fragile beauty. I have been focused on the Japanese concept, Fading Beauty for my series pieces. This piece, Lunar Phases is also related to them. This piece is dedicated to my flute friend, Camilla Hoitenga, which has premiered my pieces.
